I’m collaborating with Kru, Michelin guide-rated Thai restaurant in Brooklyn, for a one-night-only feast. This Thai x Southern pop-up dinner celebrates the culinary creativity and cultural connections deep in Southern cooking, as inspired by the ethos behind my cookbook, Make It Plant-Based! Southern.
Join us for a family-style dinner, where the joyful expression of Southern and Thai flavors + techniques find each other in unexpected harmony.
Behind every bespoke dish on this collaborative menu, Chef Ohm of Kru captures both the versatility and depth of plant-based flavors within Thai cuisine, evident in dishes like Massaman Pot Pie and sweet and sour Spiced Okra Fries. As foreshadowed in my cookbook, this dinner is an homage to the historical nature in which regional cuisines, such as Thai and Southern American homecooking, have and continue to evolve through centuries of cultural exchanges. The result? Effortlessly artful dishes that somehow manage to still taste something like home.
